Selena is an American singer-songwriter. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee, to a Spanish mother and an African-American father. After graduating from high school, she made her first public appearance at the age of 13. Her first album, titled The Selena Experience, was released in 2008. She won the 2009 Independent Music Award for Best Female Album at the American Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee.

Selena will be the first female artist to ever win an Independent Music Award for Best Female Artist in the same category. She was nominated for a Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, but lost to Beyoncé. Selena is also the first artist from the United States to ever be nominated for a Grammy for Album of the Year. She was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Selena will take home the Independent Music Award for Best Female Artist at the 2009 American Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee.

Selena is also famous for her stage moves. In a short but famous video in which she belts out the lyrics to her song “Lover’s Choice”, she can be seen doing an exaggerated spin-dancing. This is obviously a reference to her singing and dancing at the MTV Video Music Awards in 1996, but the move is so iconic that it’s been used in films and on music videos for years.

This is a very interesting look for us. We were not expecting a black & white costume here, but it’s very interesting. I like the colors together and it makes her look like the sort of woman who is a bit on the shy side of the spectrum. We think that the light colored pants are very appropriate for her, as they give her a bit of a contrast to the dark dress.
